Regional hubs launch – delivering training closer to you

IAP2 Australasia is trialling offering a full suite of training modules in regional locations, to further strengthen engagement and advance the practice to a broader audience.

Recently IAP2A scheduled training in both Albury-Wodonga and Wangaratta, with modules also offered in Newcastle.

Wangaratta, or ‘Wang’ as locals prefer, is 2.5 hours by train from Melbourne and is located in the arc of strong regional large towns in the North East Victoria region, offering decentralised employment opportunities with employers such as VicRoads, along with significant primary industries and health services.

Trainer, Alice Sherring, who has over 10 years’ experience in local government and who now trains for IAP2 in the United States, chose a case example of the road changes affecting the local community and it seemed to be as relevant to rural participants as it would for practitioners in metropolitan areas.

Choosing the right method for the right purpose is a key theme of Engagement Methods.

Kerry Craig, Regional Engagement Manager – North Eastern Region, VicRoads, who participated in the Engagement Methods module, told IAP2A that,“the choice of method prompted us to think about our priorities and how much time we spent on each aspect. It was interesting to think about what the regional managers from different disciplines had in common and what the differences were.”

Price Increase Announcement

IAP2 Australasia prides itself on the quality of the training we offer, and we never want to compromise on our standards. During the ongoing process over the last few months to review the training modules we offer, we have also looked at our pricing structure, and recognise a need to increase the price of the one-day module price (for the first time since January 2016). The price of the two-day modules remains the same.

Member rates for all training will continue to be available for IAP2A members, delivering great value.
