It’s all about the people… Farewell from Cathy Moses

Over the past seven years I have had the privilege to work with and meet many amazing people from throughout the P2 community and beyond. It has been an exciting journey which has given me the opportunity to be involved in some extremely interesting and enjoyable projects. So thank you to those I have met and contributed to my time here at IAP2A.

While the role has at times been challenging, one element that has stood out from everything else is our people and the tremendous commitment and dedication our members have to community engagement and each other. Whether it be working with a panel of judges on the Core Values Awards, or a conference working group, or perhaps one of the various local networks groups, I have found they all have tremendous passion, warmth and commitment.

Calendar highlights would have to be the first New Zealand forum in Christchurch and the 2012 conference in Melbourne. In Christchurch I was overwhelmed with the warmth towards us and the appreciation of IAP2 for supporting the city and the rebuild after the earthquakes. The 2012 conference in Melbourne was the first large event undertaken after we transitioned from a secretariat to office staff. I remember the Melbourne working group being incredibly supportive and an amazing group of people willing to throw their hat in to help with whatever needed to be done.

The Core Values Awards program has also been a highlight of every year. Working with different judging panels and then bringing together the celebration at the Gala Dinner has been cause for some great moments and great fun.

And last but not least being able to meet members from across Australasia, watch the networks grow while also seeing their work valued and appreciated has been incredibly satisfying. The years ahead for IAP2A will be very exciting. The community and stakeholder engagement field is growing in recognition and respect and I believe will emerge in greater influence as time moves on. I look forward to staying connected with many of you and thank you for your friendship, support and contribution to my work over the past seven years.

The IAP2A team farewelled Cathy on Friday 3 August at the lovely Scarborough Hotel in the Illawarra.
