Congratulations, Moira Were AM!

IAP2 Australasia is delighted to congratulate Ms Moira Therese Were from South Australia who has been appointed a Member of the Order (AM) in the Australia Day 2019 Honours List for significant service to the community of South Australia through a range of roles, and to social welfare.

As the Executive Director of IAP2 International (2008 -2012), Moira was instrumental in making IAP2 a truly international organisation and putting the organisation on a sustainable financial position.

During this time, Moira, with very limited resources, undertook to move IAP2 internationally from an individual members organisation to a federation of countries. This meant, as a fully functioning international organisation, IAP2 could offer a much higher level of services to members in more countries.

Moira also oversaw an improvement and increase in the delivery of community engagement training delivered worldwide; an international awards program and worked with other international associations to promote community and stakeholder engagement in democratic systems around the world.

We know that all IAP2 members, in Australasia and internationally, will share in congratulating Moira’s well-deserved recognition in the Australian Day 2019 Honours List, with gratitude for all her work in advancing the practice of public participation and strengthening community and stakeholder engagement.

Below is Moira’s full listing in the official Australia Day 2019 Honours List.
