Donna Marshall

1

I have been an IAP2 member since 2004 and have over 20 years’ direct community and stakeholder engagement consulting experience in the civil, property and resource sectors. Over my career I have completed over 300 engagement projects of varying sizes in QLD, NSW, VIC and WA. I was appointed to the IAP2 Australasia Board in October 2015 and am seeking a return to the position to enable me to continue my involvement in working towards a robust and inclusive accreditation program for our industry. I believe IAP2 must be a powerful advocate for our industry’s credibility and professionalism.

I have been a member of IAP2 for 10+ years and a stakeholder engagement professional for 15+ years. I am an AICD graduate and hold change management, facilitation, mediation and stakeholder engagement qualifications and currently consult in these areas.

My stakeholder engagement experience spans the health, welfare, infrastructure, government, private and NFP sectors. I work extensively with disadvantaged, CALD and disability groups.

I was a Board Director/Chairperson (2009-2015) for the NSW Ethnic Community Services Cooperative. I was also a member (2010-2015) of the Consumer Council of the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, advising on best practice stakeholder engagement.

Hello! I’m Helen and I started my community engagement life in local government 10 years ago. Since then I’ve worked in community engagement roles in three councils in Queensland and Victoria as well as consultancy. I’m currently an Associate at the Institute of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Technology Sydney where I am also a PhD candidate, looking at community engagement because I think it’s such an exciting time for the industry. Some of you may have met me in the training room, as I have been licenced with IAP2 Australasia to deliver the Certificate program.

As an experienced engagement practitioner I am passionate about sustainable infrastructure and ensuring the principles of trust, inclusion, transparency and respect are incorporated into creating lasting community benefits. I have been involved with IAP2 since 2003 and have been an active member of GHD’s stakeholder engagement team who have been leaders in Australia for over 20 years. I am the SEQ Regional Coordinator for IAP2. I took on this role to collaborate, innovate and inspire best practice. I am committed to strong and transparent governance.

I have been a long standing member of IAP2 Australasia through my roles as a Community Engagement Adviser for a Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and the City of Melbourne. At the City of Melbourne, we are well regarded internationally for our Community Engagement framework and practice, particularly in our work in deliberative democracy. We have maintained very strong links with IAP2 and have had 100’s of staff trained and have won several IAP2 awards. In 2015, I was a judge for the Australasian IAP2 Core Values Awards. I also currently serve on a primary school council Board.

A member of IAP2 since 2014, I have 15+ years’ experience in community engagement, having run my consultancy for 14 years, before joining PPR in 2015 as Director Stakeholder Engagement. I work predominantly in the infrastructure, oil and gas sectors. I see dispelling client organisations’ anxieties about inviting stakeholders into the decision making process as a key to my role. I am passionate about meaningful engagement, rather than a ‘tick-the-box’ approach. I am a Board Member of Eastern Region Domestic and Family Violence Services, and FolkWorld Inc. I lecture in Issues and Crisis Management at the University of Notre Dame.
