We are rolling out the new Engagement Facilitation

IAP2A’s new module – Engagement Facilitation – was piloted in the ACT in mid-April this year. Ten engagement managers from Canberra trialled the new module because the ACT Government is looking to enhance the facilitation skills of all its customer facing staff. We would like to thank Karen Wilden, Director Engagement and Executive Services, Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate (ACT) and member of the Project Panel, for her assistance.

Engagement Facilitation focuses on assessing the options facing you ‘in the moment’ – there and then – because, as we know, the ability to manage engagement situations is important for the outcomes of projects, for the benefit of communities and, of course, for the safety of practitioners.

We received feedback for the pilot, and now we are scheduling this module in to our regular training calendar (www.iap2.org.au). Each course will be limited to twelve 12 participants to maximise the personal learning benefit.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of shaping the IAP2 Facilitation Course.
It is such an important skill and we really need to foster it within the ACT.
I am very grateful for the opportunity and got a lot out of the experience.
All the very best.
Kind Regards

Train the trainers – assuring the same quality

We believe strongly that all our members must have access to the same quality of training regardless of where they live. Hence a ‘train the trainer’ and collegiate development process is in the first stage of each module roll out.

Martin del Los Rios (pictured) – one of our trainers and a member of the project panel – participated in the pilot and has continued discussions with module developer Ian Colley. Martin will assist the session in Sydney on 8 May.

Rachael Edginton will assist in Brisbane on 25 May and Ian Colley will facilitate Melbourne, 10 May.

They become our lead trainers as we launch the course in all locations during the 2018-2019 calendar.
