Update from the May Board Meeting 2016

Dear Members

The Board met in Melbourne on 6th May 2016. We were pleased to have Chris Gandy, the new transition CEO also participate at this meeting. Chris starts with us officially on Monday 16 May. Following is an update on key projects.

Standards and Accreditation

During the last quarter we have had a professional auditor review the Quality Assurance Standard and help us prepare the work program, key measures and reporting for auditing engagement projects. This project is progressing well and our Practice Development Committee will seek to complete this work shortly.

Our IAP2 Ambassadors have reviewed the proposed Accreditation outline and we thank them for their feedback. There is an assessment component that still needs to be developed and we hope to have this program available soon. We are planning to have a range of credentialing options for members including both those who have undertaken training and those who have many years of experience.

Corporate Membership

Those with corporate membership will know that we have been reviewing this membership structure for the past few months. We have been speaking with as many of you as possible about the services IAP2 Australasia can provide to add value to your staff and team as you seek to embed engagement practice within your organisation. The Board have approved a new structure and our team will be in touch with all our corporate members in the coming weeks to explain the new structure and how it will provide greater value for you. This new structure will commence on 1st August.

Website Update

For any who have embarked upon major IT changes, you will understand when we tell you this project has been delayed. This is the first major IT and Association Software change IAP2 Australasia has made since 2007. The certification component of the software will mean you can track where you are up to in your training pathway – but this has taken a little longer to develop than we hoped.

Our working group will be testing the new software and website in June and we expect to go live at the end of July.

Governance

Our Board is committed to ongoing professional development as Directors to ensure we provide the best possible governance for the Association. At our May meeting we had a detailed briefing from Moores Legal to update us on current governance principles, particularly in relation to conflicts of interest and the role of directors.

Chris Gandy, from Cause and Effective, presented to the full board on his approach to the process in seeking a new CEO. As a result we have formed a Leadership Transition Team and Chris will be speaking to our own key stakeholders to understand IAP2 and ensure we continue to be responsive to members’ requirements.

Final Thoughts

Thank you to those who took the time to enter our Core Values Awards this year and for those who have submitted Abstracts for the Australasian Conference. The judging process for both is underway and we look forward to announcing the program soon.

We are all looking forward to the New Zealand Symposium – The Winds of Change just 7 weeks away. Our next Board meeting will be held in conjunction with the Symposium in Wellington on 1st July.

As always, if you have any queries please contact our transition CEO, Chris Gandy ceo@iap2.org.au or the Board directly board@iap2.org.au
