On Tuesday 6 August, the Sydney Chapter hosted its third local chapter event for the year, attracting members from local and state government, consulting firms and independent contractors.
With the topic “First Nations Engagement” so high priority for many organisations, we had a highly engaged audience with many questions and comments raised throughout the evening.
Mike Butler, Urboriginal, with some help from Erin O’Brien, Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivered a heart-felt speech about the importance of place and country, and asked the audience to reflect on what this means for them individually. People left with a better understanding of the importance of their Acknowledgement to Country and how to deliver it
The event was a huge success bringing members together, (many of whom still work remotely), to connect on this important topic and share networking drinks afterwards.
