Political division in the USA has not been this deep since the Reformation following the Civil War, and there is a cautionary tale for Canada, as well. From race to issues surrounding the pandemic, there is no shortage of divisive and intractable issues facing society, and rather than have open and frank conversations, we just head to our respective corners. What can we do as neutral facilitators to effectively move people toward healing?

In this reprise of her popular presentation at the 2021 IAP2 North American Virtual Conference, Sheila Shockey of Shockey Consulting will help understand why this divide is deepening, and you’ll get a chance to learn about best practices.

Sheila Shockey has provided community engagement, planning, and management consulting services to local governments since 1989. Sheila uses data-rich tools to show interconnection between technologies, society, economics, and government so stakeholders can comprehend big, complex transformations and make better decisions for a more resilient world. She is a member of IAP2 USA and has a background in city management, planning, and economics. She has lived and worked in rural, suburban, and urban America. She brings together these three perspectives to compare, contrast, and talk about the path forward for all three.

IAP2A Members, please email info@iap2.org.au to register. Non-members, please register here.

These webinars are offered in conjunction with IAP2 Canada and IAP2 USA.
