International Forum on Public Participation and Stakeholder Engagement for Sustainable Development Goals Forum Results

Building on IAP2’s ongoing partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) to promote public participation, and joined by the School of Government and Public Policy of Indonesia (SGPP), the International Forum on Public Participation and Stakeholder Engagement for Sustainable Development Goals forum was held in Bangkok in April/May. With more than 100 participants from across the Asia Pacific region, the Forum aimed to advance stakeholder and community engagement as a means of strengthening the implementation of the 2030 Agenda*.

Activities under the partnership with UNESCAP have included developing a planning and assessment tool for quality engagement, supporting governments in processes for developing their voluntary national review reports, as well as developing and delivering professional development opportunities on stakeholder engagement for the 2030 Agenda for government officials.

* This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental. https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/post2015/transformingourworld
